My 12 year old daughter was diagnosed with MCTD a few weeks ago. This has been a shock to me. I have been reading many websites trying to understand what this all means and what kind of life she will have.

It makes me sad to see how many people struggle with pain in life.

Hi Debbie,

I just found this forum so I apologize for the belated reply. My 15 year old daughter was dx'd with MCTD back in 2003 when she was 8. I would be interested to hear how your daughter is doing and would be happy to share with you how my own daughter is doing.

My daughter is being treated at Children's Hospital in Boston. She is currently on Cellcept, 1.5g 2x a day. Overall she is doing well except her Pulmonary Function Tests have been declining over time. She is not symptomatic and her nailbed capillaries look good, so her Ped. Rheum. wants to stay the course as far as her meds go. Her only outward manifestation of MCTD is her Raynauds, which has been fairly quiet due to the warm summer weather.

Well, I hope you see this reply to your post.

Does that mean she has Lupus?
If so, I have some information on it.
